The service offered by SCORCCiO is not only limited to Replayed Stems/Samples, we can also assist you with obtaining music publishing clearances; the first requirement for any tracks to be released with samples, replays, adaptations or as complete cover versions.
Over the years we’ve handled all sorts of tricky and almost impossible publishing clearances. Grammy-nominated “On My Mind” by DIPLO & SIDEPIECE was one of them, from which we successfully gained approvals from all 6 publishers of the adapted song “Steelo”, originally performed/written by 702 feat. Missy Elliott. “Steelo” itself includes a sample by Sting – who also had to be approached by us in order to get his seal of approval for “On My Mind” as well.
We deal with Sony/ATV, BMG, Warner Chappell, Kobalt, Peer, Spirit, Downtown and Universal Music on numerous occasions, resulting in strong relationships with publishing executives at all the main companies.
This is a very important aspect to what we can offer – having personal connections within the publishing companies themselves is vital to the game plan when it comes to obtaining clearances, and especially favourable to our clients when it comes down to negotiating any royalty splits for them. Even if the original song you’ve sampled was a limited release on a small but now defunct independent record label, we can always track down the publisher with our exclusive database system.
So how does the PCS work and how much will it cost?
We offer an extremely competitive rate for our service, costing almost HALF of what others currently demand. Also, we do not charge clients “$100 by the hour” – unlike some dubious clearance services. We will always deal with your clearance request with set fees that you can see and decide upon in advance, before paying us. Our PCS works in two separate stages;
Stage 1 : Applying for clearances with a single publisher = 290 € EUR / $330 USD / £250 GBP in advance, with a 40% fee (116€ / $132 / £100) added to the initial payment for EACH additional publisher, if the song has 2 or more publishers. So for example: 2 publishers = 406 € EUR / $462 USD / £350 GBP TOTAL
Stage 2 : A second time payment of 190 € EUR / $ 220 USD / £150 GBP becomes due ONLY if the clearance is successful – However, this amount is NOT charged if you also decide to have any Sample or Stem Replay work produced by us at the very same time as receiving publishing approval for the corresponding song/sample.
Note: ALL publishers must provide their clearance approvals in order to validate the clearance. Example: 5 publishers hold rights to the song. 4 of them give their approval but 1 does not – then the clearance shall be deemed “denied”. 5 approvals must be obtained from all 5 publishers.)
TOTAL COST of PCS by SCORCCiO vs other services: PCS by SCORCCiO costs 50 – 60% LESS than any other online clearance service fee – most others demand 900 € / $950 / £850 and some companies will even make you pay royalties to them > up to 35% of your own royalty income. SCORCCiO never takes any royalties from our clients. All costs are shown right here on this page, without any “surprises” or “extras” to pay later.
