X-Rated \\\
London
based Rob Cass and Peter Larsen met during
the recording of the critically acclaimed
album "Revue", by Sylvia
Powell. Rob was given the job of
producing whilst Peter was programming,
and with a mutual admiration for each
other's work, they decided to create
their own individual act.
The name
chosen for the act was X-Rated,
influenced by the movie "Boogie
Nights" with its theme of late
seventies disco and the porn industry.
The soundtrack music inspired them to
create a brand new version of Chic's
"Everybody Dance".
Their
first task was to find a female vocalist,
and by pure chance at the Ministry of
Sound club in London they found the voice
they were looking for.
Jayne
Tretton was on the DJ stand and asked the
DJ if she could sing along to some of the
tracks played over the club's sound
system. He agreed, and the club goers
were astounded - Rob and Peter knew they
had just found the perfect vocalist, and
rushed over to Jayne to get her on-board.
They soon discovered she was ex-vocalist
of the now legendary garage act Rodeo
Jones, signed to A&M records in '92.
With a
storming Fired-Up Scorccio
Remix, the '78 disco classic has
now been fuel-injected by Mark
Summers who is very proud of this new
project, being the first licensed track
for the label. "I've always loved
the original by Chic, and my remix of X-Rated now gives the song
the exact feel of 21st century disco -
pumping, fired-up, but ultimately - a red
hot monster tune which nobody on the
dancefloor can resist!"
