Elkin,

Verano
The brothers Marin have been firmly established on the
Spanish-speaking music map since their arrival from
Columbia in the early 70's. Their unique style fuses hot
Latin songs with influences from James Brown, Santana,
Afro-Cuban and Jazz-Funk.
Having signed to CBS (Sony) with the first of many hits
in 1973, Elkin & Nelson followed their success in
Spain and Latin America with many number one albums.
Hits throughout the 70's include "Jibaro",
"Samba Samba", "Cuando Me Lo Das",
"Carnaval" and "A Caballo". A
greatest hits album has just been released by
Blanco y Negro in Spain.
Headlining with The Roling Stones on tour in the early
'80's and claiming international fame, Elkin &
Nelson also wrote and recorded some of the biggest hits
with The Gibson Brothers - "Cuba", "Que
Sera Mi Vida" and "Oh What A Life".
Thanks to the '88-89 Ibiza Balearic Beat scene, DJ's
such as Paul Oakenfold and Pete Tong re-discovered
"Jibaro" - which became the theme of the new
sound. Such popularity of the E&N tune warranted a
cover version by Electra, released on FFRR/London. The
new cover (sounding just like the original '74 version)
fired into the UK top 10 and was included on a half a
million-selling compilation of Ibiza tracks.
Now reviving the Ibiza anthem, E&N have joined
forces with top UK producer and remixer Mark Summers
from Scorccio (Souvlaki/JT Playaz etc.), giving the
classic a whole new 2003 dimension. Having recently
provided sample replays for the likes of Ministry of
Sound, Defected and Virgin amongst many other major UK
labels, Scorccio has transformed "Jibaro" into
yet another classic - with the sound of now.
